People who know me, know that I am a person who wears many hats.

I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor by profession.

I graduated with a BSc Quantity Surveying degree with the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa.

I hold a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (NUST).

I am an Intrapreneur well positioned in a Health and Wellness company that has been in existence and thriving for over the last 40+ years.

I am a Public Speaker.

I do this as a hobby.

I am a Distinguished Toastmaster with Toastmasters International.

My passion is to advance, refine and polish up on my communication and leadership skills.

So, with all these diverse interests, the question many people ask me is, 'how did you become an Author?'

We are talking me entering the field of Literature here!!

It's not related to Construction!!

And certainly not related to the Health and Wellness industry I do my business in!!

You see for the past 8+ years I have had Pages on such Social Media platforms like Facebook https://www.facebook.com/mukai.kumirai

LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/mukai-henrieta-mutubuki-kumirai-a0308242

Instagram

and Twitter

where I write and publish many articles on these platforms.

As a result, I have had many people come up to me and suggest why I don't write a Book.

My sister, Fungai Mutubuki Marowa was very vocal about the suggestion and had this habit of mentioning it in passing.

Initially I used to laugh it off and think nothing of the suggestions.

Then one day, I shared my vivid image with my best friend, confidante, mentor, special adviser, psychiatrist and special friend - ALL wrapped into one - Dr. Eric Tichawona Machiwenyika about how our mothers met in heaven, recognized each other and went to God to seek His permission to allow us to reconnect after more than 20+ years.

You see both our mothers have passed on and they knew each other during their time at Fletcher High School in Gweru, Zimbabwe.

My mother, Laurentia Eunah Chambiwa Mutubuki was our teacher and Eric's mum used to frequent Fletcher and witness her son receive awards after awards!

Eric was a very intelligent boy and was the apple of his mother's eye.

To get back to the point, Eric was so impressed, marvelled at my choice of words and manner in which I expressed myself; he said and I quote 'Seriously Mukai, you should think about writing a Book!'

It was the manner in which he said it that FINALLY made me decide to take the suggestion seriously and do something about it.

The real discipline and decision to actually sit down and write, came when the pandemic hit and we were confined indoors under lockdown for a prolonged period of time.

As a result, the first Book was written, followed by another, then another ...

I discovered that I love writing and can sit for hours - between 12 to 14 hours straight - just writing and writing.

I love and enjoy it!!

So, voila!

That is how Itai Vhudzijena was born and that is how I became an Author!!
