Are you living in 'play back mode' or are you living in 'real time?'
"If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present. Gratefully" ~ Maya Angelou
How true!!
Ever noticed how we have a tendency of living in the past ... what I refer to as the 'play back mode' instead of living in the present ... what I refer to as 'real time'.
Living in the play back mode makes us feel fearful and regretful.
The thing is, when the mind is looking back, the whole trajectory of events is very clear ... what happened from beginning to end.
Hence, the mind is able to gauge what went well and what didn't.
Then it goes into the 'what if' game.
'What if I had dated so so back then, instead of so and so? Maybe my life would have turned out much better ...'
'What if I had pursued that career and not this one ... maybe my career path would have turned out to be that much more fulfilling?'
'What if I had chosen that business venture and not this one ... maybe I would be more successful by now ...'
On and on, the mind keeps spinning the 'What if' game.
With each passing minute, you find yourself getting more and more depressed, disheartened, discouraged and frustrated with the outcome of your life.
The more you obsess about what could have happened, the more you miss out on the most beautiful gift that is upon you ... the present!!
Fact is "The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it." ~ Thomas S. Monson
"The future is coming, whether you're ready or not. The past is gone, whether you're over it or not. Don't be so distracted obsessing over the latter that you can't prepare for the former" ~ Ed Latimore
Remember:
🟢"The trick is to enjoy life. Don't wish away days waiting for better ones ahead"
🟣"We do not heal the past by dwelling there; we heal the past by living fully in the present" ~ Marianne Williamson
