Harper rose to her feet
She had been preparing to get out of her office for a Meeting, when her phone had rung.
Margot had said “There is a Mr. Christopher Munengami on the line, Harper. He says it’s urgent.”
“Mr. Christopher Munengami ...?!!” Harper frowned “I don’t know any Christopher Munengami ...!!”
“He says he is from Belle Facilities Management Group ...” Margot had said
Harper’s frown had deepened even further ‘Belle Facilities Management Group ...?!!’ She thought
As far as she knew, Belle and her stuff had flown out to Accra, Ghana, the previous evening ...
So why was a member of stuff of Belle’s calling? Harper was confused
“Alright. Put him through” Harper said, anxiously glancing at her wrist watch.
She could spare a few minutes.
“Mrs Mutasa ... Mrs Harper Matambanadzo Mutasa ...?” A gruff male voice enquired
“Yes ...?” Harper frowned
The man on the other end of the line sounded nervous
Harper inhaled
“My name is Christopher Munengami.
I am the Human Resources Manager at Belle Facilities Management Group”
Then without waiting for Harper to say anything, proceeded “A few minutes ago, I received a call from The Harare International Airport personnel.
They informed me that the plane Ms Belle and her two hundred stuff were on has varnished from radar.
They lost contact with the pilot and his crew about three hours after take off ... somewhere between Gabon and Libreville.
The aircraft was flying over The Gulf of Guinea.
Something about a mechanical failure ...
Apparently their plane lost one of its engines ...”
Harper sucked in her breath sharply.
This was shocking news to her
“What?!!” She cried out
Her mind was racing, trying to process everything all at once.
She hastened “Have they sent any rescue party to search for them?!! If the plane has indeed disappeared over The Gulf of Guinea, that’s a vast ocean area!!”
“They inform me that a search party is on it right now, Mam” Christopher supplied “I am busy calling and informing all the family members of the two hundred of our employees plus Ms Belle's family, of course.
I thought it best I call you and inform you as well, instead of you hearing it from the tabloids or any other such social media sources.”
Belle's flight had disappeared somewhere in The Gulf of Guinea?!!
My goodness!! That was a vast stretch of ocean!!

Had Belle survived the crash?!!
Had The Belle Facilities Management Group Personnel survived the crash?!!
Had the other three hundred and eighty seven passengers survived the crash?!!
Harper did not know.
The Gulf of Guinea ... It was infested with pirates who kidnapped stranded hostages for ransom!!
Would The Gabonese Government Search and Rescue Team that had been appointed to find the flight and passengers be able to find them?
What about Harper herself?
What could she do?
